The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme
21 May 2009
Our research shows there is a lot of angst amongst the Australian resources industry regarding the proposed Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) which is contained within the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme legislation which is about to re-enter parliament for debate. Actually debate is a word you rarely see in any story related to climate change as we are continually told the debate is over as to whether man is inducing climate change.
Both sides of politics are convinced that our greenhouse gasses are warming the world and to speak out against this view is to be labelled a denier. It would be interesting if Galileo could come back to life and recount to the world he encountered when he proposed the sun was the centre of the earth.
Unproven orthodox views often unravel under the spotlight and It is interesting that all 4 computer simulations conducted by the IPCC have been proven wrong over time. The scary aspect to all this, is these are the very models which most climate change arguments are based on.
It is even more interesting to note that the world has been cooling since 2002, though our politicians never tell us this. Even more interesting is the very title of the bill. Approximately 80% of all matter is made of carbon, so using the same logic nitrogen is also a pollutant.
The climate change debate has become way out of hand with all sorts of apocalyptic scenarios being dreamt up yet as Einstein said “The only one thing more dangerous than ignorance, is arrogance.” The debate requires more evidence not arrogant posturing before we severely hobble Australia’s economy with an ETS. There may be a good possibility that climate change is man induced but the evidence at the moment is simply not there. Let us not sacrifice our competitive advantages until conclusive evidence is produced.
